Martina Bozzola and Thomas Böcker take home best paper awards
The Agricultural Economics and Policy group of WFSC Vice Chair Prof. Robert Finger received best paper awards at the EAAE and the GEWISOLA Agricultural Economics Congresses this month.
At the XV EAAE (European Association of Agricultural Economists) Congress on 01 September, Dr. Martina Bozzola accepted the Best Contributed Paper Award for the work “Variant Risk Preferences In Agriculture: Evidences From Italy” by Martina Bozzola, Salvatore Di Falco, and Robert Finger. The paper investigated the stability over time of farmers’ risk preferences and found evidence of risk preference changes over time in response to major droughts and changes in the EU Common Agricultural Policy.
The award was based on the quality, originality and clarity of the submitted paper and the quality of the oral presentation at the Congress. See the EAAE news item external page here.
More accolades came at the 57th GEWISOLA (German Society of Economic and Social Sciences in Agriculture) Conference on 15 September where Thomas Böcker accepts the Best Paper Award for the work “Modelling the effects of glyphosate ban on weed management in maize production” by Thomas Böcker, Wolfgang Britz, and Robert Finger. The paper applied a bio-economic model to the effects of a glyphosate ban on farmers’ income; other herbicide use; maize yields; and labor demand and found that glyphosate ban has only small income effects. The award was one of three for the best submitted paper with accompanying oral presentation.
The WFSC congratulates the AECP group on their achievements.
